Why I Chose This Poem
I read this for the first time in a intro to poetry course in college. This is one of my favorites because I can understand feeling like nobody, but at the same time wanting to be the only "nobody". Emily Dickinson's life was one of solitude. She never married and was almost a recluse. Though some people might think she wasted her life, her poem tells me that she was living it the way she wanted. She was a Nobody, in the best ways possible.
