Poem:
Goodtime Jesus
Poet:
James Tate

Why I Chose This Poem
I studied with Tate as an undergrad, and his class moved my writing quickly and permanently to its own voice. Goodtime Jesus has always been one of my favorites of his. I've always been fond of his take on the dramatic monologue.
