FAQ
First thing: you’ll need to create an account with either YouTube or Vimeo (don’t worry, both are free). From there, you can record a video using your webcam or upload a movie from your computer.
If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can also upload movies using your mobile phone.
Once you’ve posted your video online, you can send it to us using our submission form.
Not a problem! We recommend using a service like YouSendIt to get the files over to us. You can send it to: directSubmit@apoemfromus.com.
If you’d like, you can also send in your video via Dropbox. Simply share the file/folder with us at: consumer@avoision.com.
Absolutely! If you’ve got a favorite poem and can record a video, we’d love to have you on the site! Now stop reading and go get recording!
We ask that you preface your video with the name of the poem, and the name of the poet. We also ask that you limit the video to just the poem itself.
We’re very interested in why you chose a particular poem, but would prefer you use the form’s comments fields instead. We’ll include both your video and your comments on your video page!
Sure thing! Though if we receive a LOT of them, we may not post all your submissions at once.
Unless, of course, you’re some kind of crazy awesome reader of poems. But even then, we might space them out a little… just to give everyone else a shot, too.
Unfortunately, no. The project is meant to let people to share their favorite poems. It’s not a place to share poems you’ve written yourself. There are a lot of sites out there that allow for that kind of thing. But this just isn’t one of those sites – sorry.
Without a doubt, there are plenty of songs whose lyrics are poetical or could out and out be considered poetry. Perhaps you could go so far as to say that all lyrics are poetry, as well.
But to keep things simple, we’re saying “No” to song lyrics. Rule of thumb: what you submit must be considered first and foremost a poem.
That’s the goal. Although, we may have to turn down some videos due to the submission falling outside the guidelines of the project. But if there’s a poem that you like, and you send a video our way… we want to help you share it with others.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to send a follow-up notification to each participant. But if you keep an eye on the site’s RSS feed, you should be able to see any new videos that get added.
We’re no fans of the traditional sing-song voice, but honestly… it’s your poem, it’s your video. Read it however you like.

PS: Bonus points if you memorize your poem, and can maintain eye contact with the camera!

So glad you asked – we’ve got a whole section dedicated to us getting you free stickers! Swing on by and get ‘em over here.
The QR code redirects to a specific, custom page on the website. When a user scans the sticker QR code with their phone, it redirects them to this page (where we’ve place a custom YouTube playlist, comprised of 10-15 select videos).
We switch out the videos every so often, adding in newer contributors and allowing the stickers to show a new set of poems/videos.
There are a lot of apps on the app store that will allow you to read QR codes. We recommend Scan, which does the job nicely (and it’s free).
Mashable has some recommendations, if you’re looking for an Android-specific QR reader.
