Artist Austin Kleon takes newspaper articles and, with a black marker, removes all the words he doesn’t need. His project (and book) is called Newspaper Blackout, and the project site features a lot of submission from all over.

In addition to some of Kleon’s work, he’s got several featured poems from classrooms and museums, submitted from all over the country. It’s a simple concept, well executed, and lots of fun. What a great way to encourage people to create their own poems, using the words around them.

William Carlos Williams would be proud.
